Evonik in Singapore

Today, Singapore is the regional headquarters and Innovation hub for the region. Supplying and producing locally, we are constantly stepping up our presence to strengthen the competitiveness of our customers through research and applications.

In Singapore, our manufacturing assets include the world’s largest production complex for essential amino acid DL-methionine within the Evonik network and an oil additives production site on Jurong Island. It also includes two manufacturing facilities in Tuas, with one producing Epoxy Curing Agent, Ink & Hotmelt Resin and Polyurethane Catalyst Blends, and another catalyst recovery center.

As a leading global supplier of high performance VISCOPLEX® lubricant additives and VISCOBASE® synthetic base fluids for the automotive and industrial lubricants, Evonik opened its Oil Additives plant on Jurong Island in 2008. We nearly doubled the production capacities in 2015, making it our largest Oil Additives production site in our global network.

In 2014, Evonik opened the production complex for MetAMINO®, the essential amino acid DL-methionine used in sustainable animal feed. In 2019, to better serve the strong demand and customers in Asia, Evonik opened its 2nd complex for DL-methionine right next to the existing plant, with an annual capacity of 150,000 metric tons of each plant, it brings the company's global methionine production to approximately 730,000 metric tons.

The catalyst recovery center was acquired in 2020 as part of Evonik's growth strategy. It has activities in the field of desulfurization catalyst rejuvenation, sulfur recovery catalysts and alumina based purification adsorbents, which contributes to Evonik's focus on sustainability and the transition to a circular economy.

Singapore is also home to our Research and Development (R&D) hub in the region, with innovation and technical service centers for coatings, animal feed, polyurethane additives and Beauty & Care. In April, 2018, Evonik opened its first Asia Research Hub for resource efficiency topics in the country, internationalizing its research into the areas of functional surfaces, additive manufacturing and tissue engineering.
